Streaming to Instagram is currently limited to those with access to the Instagram Live Producer. However, it is possible to go live without access by using a program such as Yellow Duck which we’ll be using in this tutorial.
Since Instagram and Yellow Duck aren’t fully integrated with Lightstream, the best way to add them as a destination will be through our Custom RTMP Destination option.
1. To get started, download and install Yellow Duck
2. Open Yellow Duck and log into your Instagram account (Note: if you have two-factor authentication enabled on your account you may have to disable it to log in)
3. You will then see a page displaying your RTMP URL as well as your Stream key (Note: This stream key will change every time you wish to go live to Instagram)
4. Return to Lightstream and click “Add a destination” at the top right corner of your Lightstream Studio. If a destination is already added, you will want to click the Destinations section at the top right instead which will provide you the option to add another destination
5. Select RTMP from the available options
6. Bring in your RTMP URL and Stream key, give your destination a name and click “Add Destination”
8. Click “Start Broadcast” within Yellow Duck
9. Start your broadcast from within Lightstream within 2 minutes to finish going live to your Instagram account
10. Once you’re ready to go live, you’ll want to start your broadcast from within Lightstream and then hit “Go Live” within the Instagram Live Producer to start your stream
11. To end your stream, hit “Stop Broadcast” from within Yellow Duck and end your broadcast inside of Lightstream
